Martin Luther King Jr. Day, formally noticed as Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service by the USA Congress, is a federal vacation in the USA marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It’s noticed on the third Monday of January every year, which in 2025 falls on Monday, January 20.
The vacation was established in 1983 and was first noticed in 1986. It grew to become a nationwide vacation in 1986 and is now noticed in all 50 states. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a day of service and remembrance. It’s a time to replicate on the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and to recommit ourselves to the ideas of nonviolence and equality.
